Workplace Runtime

In the workplace runtime phase, the configured software tools are deployed and used within the context of a nominal flow of the assembly tasks at hand. In addition, the situation assessment is used to recognize potential anomalies in the workflow and initiate the corresponding error recovery actions.

The following presentation gives an overview of the role of different software tools used in the typical and atypical process cycle.

The following videos provide short demonstrations of some of these software tools.

(Note, some of the demonstration videos of the presentation have been marked as confidential by the end-users. We will try to reproduce those videos using generic product geometries, a.s.a.p.)

Augmented Reality Human instructions

Augmented Reality tool (EON) application is responsible for generating worker meaningful instructions regarding the ongoing process, considering the status of the cell. AR tool can visualize the worker instruction either on android mobile devices or in AR glasses (Penny) that have been tailored to the needs of LIAA project. The coordination of the instructions is performed by the messages that are received by the World Model (LMS) that calculates the task progress. The application is also visualizing the human activity and the safety zones, based on the messages that receives from Human Activity Recognition Module (Tecnalia).

Human Activity Recognition

The Human Activity Recognition module observes the worker and creates input data for the other modules. It uses multiple Kinect sensors to have a reliable perception of the overall environment. They are used to generate a complete and consistent point cloud which is used for human detection and tracking. World Model (LMS) collects the information from HAR and triggers the reduce mode or emergency stop accordingly. The performance of the software was tested on an Automotive pilot case that copes with the assembly of the Turbocharger using LIAA project technologies.

Task Execution Coordination

The programming of the robot is performed through DTI skill engine that facilitates the teaching procedure using a high level representation. World Model (LMS) is responsible for collecting and fuse information from different module and sensors, calculating the task progress and resources status. The visualization of task progress is performed by the MES system (InSystems) which responsible to keep statistic data and inform the user about execution of the upcoming tasks.
