Related activities and collaboration

In order to truly advance the state of the art in the topic area and maximize the impact of project outcomes, LIAA will make significant efforts to establish close collaboration with other ongoing international research activities, as well as the European Network for the Advancement of Artificial Cognitive Systems, Interaction and Robotics (Opens external link in new windowEUCOG ), euRobotics aisbl (Opens external link in new windoweuRobotics ), the European Technological Platform for Researching in Manufacturing (Opens external link in new windowManuFuture ) and the European Factories of the Future Association (Opens external link in new windowEFFRA).

Further, in order to guarantee openness and interoperability with different robot types, as well as leverage the development activities of a large number of researchers and technology developers, the LIAA framework will be situated within the Opens external link in new windowROS Industrial development initiative.

ReApp

The BMWI project “Reusable robot applications for flexile robot systems based on Industrial ROS” aims at the development of a series of developer tools which enable the reuse of software applications by end-users in robot systems based on industrial ROS.

Robo-Mate

The goal of the Robo-Mate is to apply an industry focus in developing a user-friendly intelligent cooperative light weight wearable human-robotic exoskeleton for manual handling work.

ROBO-PARTNER

The FP7 project “Seamless Human-Robot Cooperation for Intelligent, Flexible and Safe Operations in the Assembly Factories of the Future” investigates the safe human-robot-cooperation focusing on large scale production applications requiring heavy-weight robots.

Factory-in-a-Day

The FP7 project “Factory-in-a-Day” is targeted at the business case of enabling the rental of mobile robot assitants, meaning a company can hire mobile robots for a short period of time (like human temp workers). This to be achieved by having a system integrator analyse the request of the customer and using additive manufacturing print the customer specific tools and fixtures, as well as by a new business model where the customer does not have to buy the mobile robot, but is rather charged per hour or per work load.

ARENA2036

 

The ARENA2036 is a research factory with multiple robot cell setups (light-weight robots, one-arm/ dual-arm robots, multi-arm setups, etc.) for different production operations, as well as a mechanical workshop and an electronics lab for engineering of different tools and grippers. It was established as a 15 year initiative (2013-2028), with the explicit mission to serve as an open research environment for cutting-edge research from industry and academia. It is located in Stuttgart and managed by IPA.

SMErobotics

This FP7 ICT project aims at strengthening the competitiveness of SMEs in Manufacturing by integrating aspects of cognitive systems. The SMErobotics work system, which covers all phases of the robot life-cycle and in which humans and robots can together deal with SME manufacturing uncertainties and are symbiotically able to learn from each other and to learn from the past handling of uncertainties.

PRACE

The FP7 NMP STREP project “The Productive Robot Apprentice” focuses on fast and intuitive robot teaching using a dual-armed mobile robot platform. It aims at a fast and economic automation of manual working places in the shop floor environment, with the involvement of humans for teaching and supervising the production via knowledge-based human-robot interaction. A major aspect of the PRACE system is the operation without safeguards to reach the target setup times.

TAPAS

The goal of TAPAS "Robotics-enabled Logistics and Assistive Services for the Transformable Factory of the Future" is to pave the ground for a new generation of transformable solutions to automation and logistics for small and large series production, economic viable and flexible, regardless of changes in volumes and product type.

AUTORECON

AUTORECON “Autonomous co-operative machines for highly reconfigurable assembly operations of the future” proposes the enabling, development and introduction of a) autonomous, exchangeable and mobile production units, b) highly interactive robotic structures c) random (non-hierarchical agglomerates) production flow and all these, integrated under a common and open architecture.

SkillPro

The FP7 NMP STREP project “Skill-based propagation of Plug&Produce devices in reconfigurable production systems” aims at enhancing the Plug&Produce paradigm by taking into account knowledge about the capabilities/skills of new devices and their impact on the overall capabilities/skills of the production system in terms of operational procedures and economical KPI, which would increase the versatility and efficiency of production sites

EuRoC

The FP7 project “European Robotics Challenges” aims at boosting the European robotics industry by launching and running three industrially relevant challenges in manufacturing, logistics and servicing.
